Victor Amadin

Founder

The founder of VASF, Victor Amadin, was born and raised in Benin, Nigeria. Amadin grew up in a large family and participated in sports as a child, but he could not afford the appropriate equipment or attire. Amadin began playing soccer in elementary through high school, and in 1983 he was recruited to play for the Nigerian soccer team, The BCC Lions of Gboko. He had the opportunity to compete in Europe and demonstrate his soccer abilities; after consistently competing back and forth from Nigeria to Europe, he was later recruited to play for the Patro Eisden club based in Maasmechelen, Belgium, in 1991. He was a member of Patro Eisden from 1991 to 1994 before leaving Europe to try out for the Vancouver 86ers, a Canadian team that is now known as the Vancouver White Caps in 1995. He started coaching young soccer players not long after he retired from competitive soccer, and he joined the soccer organization Surrey FC, in 2018 to help coach using his experience in sport. He is now coaching for the soccer club, Abbotsford United. The young athletes he has had the privilege of coaching throughout the years have encouraged him to launch VASF.

Founded

VASF has been a work in progress since 2004, but was officially launched and registered with the BC Government in 2022. Victor Amadin, the founder of VASF, began his mission by bringing contributions of athletic goods, including soccer balls and jerseys, back to his hometown in Nigeria. Amadin brought this equipment to his home village in Benin, Nigeria after noticing that there were youth with sporting talents and who wanted to be on a sports team but needed the appropriate running shoes, equipment, and athletic gear as well as the drive to really participate in a structured athletic program for training and competition. In order to provide young athletes a place to play sports without any financial concerns, VASF was established.

To create an environment where disadvantaged children in Africa can enjoy sports unrestricted without having any financial concerns. 

To be an organization where young athletes in Africa can trust with receiving resources to support their sporting activities through sponsorships and donations.
